2. MOI-Symposium 2012

2nd MOI-Symposium of the Manchot Graduate School "Molecules of Infection"

The 2nd MOI Symposium of the Manchot Graduate School took place from the 22.-23.03.2012, once again in the beautiful surroundings of the Kardinal-Schulte-Haus in Bergisch-Gladbach. During the Symposium the 21 doctoral researchers from the scientific groups involved in the Graduate School presented their projects, successes and their first significant results to each other and to their project supervisors. In addition, they gave a deeper insight into their individual doctoral research projects.

The basic aim of the conference was to further intensify the cooperation between the participating research groups and, most importantly, between the young researchers themselves.

The scientific highlight of the Symposium was once again the 'Manchot Lecture in Infection Biology'. The scholarship holders and their associated doctoral researchers had invited an up-and-coming group leader, Prof. Münch from the Institute of Virology in Ulm. He gave a fascinating talk about his own scienitific research and was a stimulating part of the scienitfic discussion during the whole Symposium.

Furthermore, the whole Manchot Graduate School was very happy to welcome Thomas Manchot, Head of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, as one of the participants in the Symposium. All of these activities would not have been possible without the generous funding provided by the Jürgen Manchot Foundation.
