MOI I-III Alumni Meeting 2018

MOI Alumni Meeting No. 2

After the successful first MOI Alumni Meeting in 2015, the second edition took place on 26th October at Manor House Schloss Mickeln. Graduates of the first two MOI generations have met fellows of the current third round of the Manchot Graduate School “Molecules of Infection”.

The meeting started with brief speeches of the MOIs’ Speaker Professor Johannes H. Hegemann and Vice Speaker and HHU Vice President Professor Klaus Pfeffer who cordially welcomed all the participants, especially the Alumni. Afterwards, Marcus Holzheimer (MH3 Consulting), trained the participants in a diversified workshop programme how to self-present, how to manage priorities in work and how to use social networks cleverly for their careers. In diverse discussion formats and practical exercises, 32 Alumni and current MOI fellows have linked up and created a network with high importance for their future professional lives.

A “Flying Buffet” in the evening together with the MOI project leaders was the perfect completion of this very communicative, lively and successful day. A special honour for the Graduate School has been the attendances of Honorable Senator of the HHU and President of the Jürgen Manchot Foundation, Mr. Thomas Manchot, of the foundation’s Vice President Mr. Thomas Kramer, as well as of Professor Dr. Peter Westhoff (Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer) all representing the high interest of the Foundation and University in the development of MOI Graduates.

The lively discussions throughout all status groups has shown the success of the event and the importance of this MOI-based Network within the Graduate School, so that surly regularly Alumni meetings will take place in future.
