1st MOI V Symposium November 2025

Successful 1st Symposium of the MOI V Graduate School

From November 10 to 12, 2025, all members of the MOI V Graduate School met for a major scientific exchange at Friedestrom Castle in Zons. All 18 MOI V doctoral students presented their projects in a lecture and on a poster.

Dr. Daria Tashyreva (University of Warsaw, Poland) gave a lecture on how beneficial intracellular bacteria were ‘domesticated’ by their eukaryotic hosts, and in turn, how presumably parasitic bacteria learned to manipulate and exploit their hosts, and finally, discovered that so-called ‘microbial dark matter’ lineages of bacteria (known only from their short DNA signatures) are, in fact, intracellular residents of protists.
