First iSAB-Meeting 2014

First Meeting with the International Scientific Advisory Board of MOI II

The International Scientific Advisory Board (iSAB) and the members of the Manchot Graduate School “Molecules of Infection II” met for the first time in the beautiful surroundings of the manor house Schloss Mickeln in March 2014. The iSAB is made up of the following distinguished scientists:

  • Prof. Alistair Brown, University of Aberdeen, Scotland (back, 1st from left)
  • Prof. Stefan Ehlers, Director of the Research Center Borstel, Leibniz-Center for Medicine and Biosciences (front, 1st from right)
  • Prof. Joachim Hauber, Heinrich-Pette-Institute, Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (front, 2nd from left)
  • Prof. Carl Ware, Director, Laboratory of Molecular Immunology, La Jolla, CA, USA (front, 1st from left)

All principal investigators (PIs) were asked to outline relevant aspects of their research activities related to biology of infection to the iSAB and the other PIs. The iSAB members also presented their recent research to the participants. The PhD students presented posters dealing with the results of their ongoing projects. During the meeting many fruitful and productive debates took place.

At the end of the meeting a final joint session with the iSAB, the speakers of MOI II and the scientific coordinator was held. The members of the iSAB expressed their satisfaction with the progress being made by the Manchot Graduate School, rating MOI II as a very worthwhile investment in the training of young scientists.
