MOI V Official Kick off meeting

On October 24, 2024, the kick-off event of the Manchot Graduate School 'Molecules of Infection V' (MOI V) took place in the Marienburg Monheim.

The occasion was the successful start of the 5th funding period of the graduate school, which is made possible by the generous support of the Jürgen Manchot Foundation. In addition, the “Strategische Forschungsfonds“ and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences as well as the Faculty of Medicine are providing funding so that a total of 18 scholarship holders - six of them from abroad - will be able to work on their doctoral projects on very different aspects of infection research over the next three and a half years.

In the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jürgen Manchot Foundation, Mr. Thomas Manchot, the spokesperson of MOI V, Prof. Klaus Pfeffer, expressed his personal thanks to the Foundation for its generous support of graduate education at Heinrich Heine University for more than 15 years.

The main aim of the event was to get to know the various players and build a sense of togetherness within the new cohort. In the impressive ambience of Burg Monheim, there was plenty of time for this at a joint dinner and the subsequent team event in the form of a darts tournament.
